Forest Management and Care

SILVICULTURA

Our Work and Commitment

In the Silviculture department of Fundació Natura Parc, we unite ancient traditions with the latest technologies. Our main commitment is the regeneration and maintenance of the natural environment through methods that respect the ecosystem.

We carry out the cleaning of forest areas and torrents using non-aggressive animal means, which allows us to intervene in the environment without altering the balance of micro-habitats. Through this project, we not only care for our forests but also rescue and highlight key elements of our rural and biological identity.

The zero-impact method:

Our methodology is not measured only in clean hectares, but in avoided ecological footprint:

  • Controlled Grazing: It is the most effective tool against excess forest fuel (undergrowth).

  • Interdepartmental Work: We collaborate with COFIB and CEPAD so that each forestry action also benefits wildlife.

  • Balearic Commitment: Each project is an investment in the safety and green future of our islands.

Living land management:

Our priority is the health of the Balearic Islands. We act directly on the ground with three pillars:

  • Natural Prevention: We create firebreaks and maintain torrents without heavy machinery, protecting the most fragile microhabitats.

  • Guardians of the Landscape: We ensure that the forest environment maintains its biological balance and natural beauty, vital for our identity and tourism.

  • Recovery of Trades: We return the essential role of land manager to the shepherd, rescuing a key figure in the prevention of environmental disasters.

Animal rescue and dignity:

What makes us unique is who helps us in our work. In our team, animals are the protagonists:

  • Second Opportunities: We recover abandoned equines, integrating them into forest work programs where they feel useful and cared for.

  • Genetic Heritage: We are bastions of the Mallorcan Donkey Native Breed, giving them a purpose of continuity that prevents their disappearance.

  • Human-Animal Synergy: A team of more than 80 professionals (veterinarians, engineers, and shepherds) ensures the well-being of our four-legged collaborators.
